Welcome

Welcome to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church! Thanks for stopping by our website. We are excited that God has sent you to be part of our parish family.

The Catholic community here in the southern part of Shelby County, Alabama has a rich history that continues to this day. We've grown a lot since we began as a mission chapel in 1869! Right now, there are over 1,500 families registered in the parish, with new members coming each week from Montevallo, Alabaster, Calera, and many other towns.

The St. Thomas community is very active in worship and ministry, with members serving the Lord in many ways. As you become part of our parish, I invite you to pray about how you can become an active part of the great things God is doing here.

Again, welcome to St. Thomas. May God bless you richly as you join us for worship and service. We look forward to seeing you Sunday!

Christ's peace,

Rev. Bradley Jantz

Interested in joining the Catholic Church?

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA – formerly RCIA) offers the opportunity for non-Catholics to join the Catholic Church. This process is for anyone unbaptized, anyone baptized in a non-Catholic church, and any Catholic adult who has not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Class sessions are held on Tuesday evenings at 6:30PM in the St. Joseph room. Note that participation in OCIA does not carry any obligation to join the Catholic Church–it is first and foremost an opportunity to welcome anyone who wishes to learn about our faith. If you are interested in attending classes and possibly joining the Church, please contact Sister Amanda at 205-663-3936 EXT. 104 or via email at sramanda@stthomascatholic.com. Or, you can fill out this form.
